An art installation dedicated to the memory of three women killed in Renfrew County is being unveiled next week.

The Township of Madawaska Valley has announced the details for the upcoming event to reveal the mosaic, which has been in the works since last winter.

The display is being unveiled on September 22nd, to mark the 7th anniversary of the deaths of Nathalie Warmerdam, Anastasia Kuzyk and Carol Culleton, all of whom were murdered in 2015.

The event is happening at 6:00 PM on the 22nd, and will last for an hour, with “ceremony, speakers, special guests, and musical performances” expected to take place there, according to the announcement.

“The unveiling will feature an 8-foot pebble mosaic monument commissioned by artist Anna Camilleri,” the announcement reads, “and multiple small community-generated mosaics made in conjunction with a training program for local artists in community arts and pebble mosaic production.”

Immediately after the ceremony, the Women’s Sexual Assault Centre of Renfrew County will be holding a sexual violence protest march called “Take Back the Night.”
