A follow-up event to the unveiling of the memorial pebble mosaic in Watertower Park is now being organized.

The Women’s Sexual Assault Centre of Renfrew County, a Pembroke-based nonprofit that supports women ages 16 and older that have been victims of sexual violence, is hosting a “Take Back the Night” protest march September 22nd.

People participating in the protest will move from Watertower Park to the corner of Drohan and Kelly Streets, on a 200 metre path.

Road closures along the route have been approved by the Township of Madawaska Valley, and the organization is also requesting that police officers lead the way to ensure protestors’ safety.

The event will happen after a pebble mosaic is unveiled, commemorating the anniversary of the deaths of Nathalie Warmerdam, Anastasia Kuzyk and Carol Culleton. The three women were murdered in Renfrew County in 2015.
