At 4pm in the library will be showing the Movie Racetime, a 2018 animated adventure comedy.
In the evening, they will be showing Night Raiders at 6pm at the Arlington Hotel in Maynooth.
We spoke with Arlington hotel owner Ro Munich about why he was happy to co-host the festival
“I’m a fan of Canadian film and it does go under appreciated, even in Canada. So it’s nice to support Canadian film and film-making. This in particular is a fantastic film”
Night Raiders is a 2021 Canadian-New Zealand film that centers on a Cree woman who joins a resistance movement against the government in order to save her daughter.
“It focuses on a dystopian future where all children can be taken away and are taken away by the state. It’s illegal to raise your children in your home. The resistance is spearheaded by indigenous people who of course have experience with that”
Both Movies at the Canadian film day event are free and both are rated PG.
