Independent Candidate Dheerendra Kumar wants to make life more affordable for those in the Riding.

He says he lives in the area and is not happy about the Trudeau Government. Kumar said the reason Trudeau was elected was because the people were not happy with the Harper Government, and now feel the same way about Trudeau’s government. Kumar says both governments gave promises and didn’t work to keep them. He says he also was prompted to run by the SNC-Lavalin scandal, and didn’t agree with the government’s decision to kick out Jody Wilson-Raybould from the Liberal Party. Kumar says he was motivated to run because the system is not good for Canadians. He says that somebody needs to fix it, and is why he is running for election.

Kumar’s focus on his campaign is the lack of affordability in Renfrew County. He says that in the county is filled with people with people living on low income. He also says a very high percentage of people are on social assistance. He says that retired people don’t have access to the Canadian Pension Plan. He also said that cost of living is very high, and his first priority is to bring it down. He also says he is in favor of subsidized housing. Kumar also plans to tackle the lack of jobs in the area. He wants to provide assistance to small businesses, which he says will create jobs and help everyone. Kumar says that climate change is not priority to him. He says he is more focused on providing services to seniors, increasing long term care beds, giving people better access to mental health care, and child care. He did say he was against the carbon tax, which he says increases the cost of living, making it difficult to survive. Kumar does say he supports different taxes on different income brackets, taxing expensive properties more, and lowering hydro bills.

Kumar says that it is up to the people to find out who is the right person to vote for. He says people must decide who to vote for based on the candidate’s background, and whether they represent the people or the political party.
