Folks from Renfew County got their first look at a packed race for the riding on Saturday.
Nine of the ten candidates running in the Riding of Renfrew Nippissing Pembroke took questions from residents at the Killaloe Lions Hall on Saturday. Among the candidates in attendance were Ruben Marini of the Liberal Party, Eileen Jones-Whyte of the NDP, Ian Pineau of the Green Party and David Ainsworth of the PPC. Robert Cherin of the Veteran’s Coalition Party, Stefan Klietsch of the Libertarian party and three independent candidates Dan Criger, Jonathan Davis and Dheerendra Kumar were there alongside the other parties.
Questions ranged from issues of climate change, income inequality and federal responses to future flooding. Many of the candidate disagreed about if climate change was man-made or not, but all candidates were committed to action.
Incumbent Conservative MP Cheryl Gallant was absent from the meeting.
