The Madawaska Valley’s finance committee is preparing for budget time by taking a closer look at capital assets.
Representatives from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing presented a comprehensive breakdown of assets for the township, drawing comparisons from many other communities in the region.
The township’s finance committee were in agreement the presentation was extremely helpful in gaining some financial bearing moving forward.
The committee was in agreement of Councillor Shelly Maika’s request to see data also presented on the Bonnechere Valley, a community which has a great deal in common with the Madawaska Valley logistically.
The information presented could help the township receive more money from both application based and formula based grants and better manage tax spikes.
