Madawaska Valley’s Music on the Trail event received solid attendance and local support.

Culture and Tourism Coordinator Anya Gansterer says the live music which was on display at various locations in the valley was to show off the heritage trails in the valley.

One of the musicians from the events, Kenneth Ramsden says many of the songs included in hit set were deeply steeped in Canadian culture and history, whether it be from logging in northern Ontario to the sinking of the Mayflower closer to home.

Gansterer says not only is there old logging trails near Combermere, Barry’s Bay and Wilno but there is an ancient aboriginal portage trail which runs through the area as well.

She says even though Music on the Trail was the first of its kind for the area it still drummed up a lot of local support and plans to continue it next summer.
