The township of Madawaska Valley is preparing its funding applications for the Ontario150 programs.

Madawaska’s CAO Craig Kelly says the Community Capital Program is where the town is most likely going to focus on applications.

This branch of the programs goes to recreation investments like playgrounds, arenas, elderly care centres and community centres.

Council discussed the chance of the arena roof and floor projects benefitting from the funding.

Other applications in the heritage sector could also benefit funding for future possible projects like the water tower in Barry’s Bay.

The township is also currently waiting on parameters for funding applications after receiving a letter from AMO.

The letter outlined phase one agreements from Infrastructure Canada.

Once council can review the programs available it can begin applying.

Council says it may look into the Federal Clean Water and Wastewater portions.

The program could possibly pertain to planning, design, and upgrades on current water systems.
