Hastings County’s MPP is unsure about gender neutral licences

Our local MPP is uncertain about changes gender information on provincial licences.

The province recently announced it would no longer show a person’s gender on Health Cards as of June 13^th.

Starting in 2017, people will also be given the option of having an ‘X’ on their drivers licences in the gender field, instead of ‘M’ or ‘F.’

Prince Edward-Hastings MPP Todd Smith says he does not think this is a priority for the province when faced with some many other issues.

The province says creating more gender inclusive documents goes hand-in-hand with its priority to grow the economy and create jobs.
