OPP is reminding people to be safe on water, after a deadly week in Renfrew County.

Killaloe OPP is investigating a suspected drowning of an 18-year-old, who was found in Dam Lake, northeast of Combermere, on Saturday.

Another suspected drowning took place near Deep River. An Underwater Search and Recovery Team found the body of a 66-year-old on Saturday, after Upper Ottawa Valley were alerted to an unoccupied boat in the Ottawa River on Friday.

OPP says there is no single cause that leads to drownings, but there are common contributing factors.

It says safety practices such as learning to swim at an early age, wearing a life jacket, and supervising children while swimming are some examples of ways to keep everyone safe. The police force also urges people to never drink alcohol while boating and not to swim alone.
