They can’t build houses fast enough in Renfrew County.

The January numbers for the Renfrew County Real Estate Board show that the housing market is still hot in the region. Both the number of new listed houses and the number of active listed houses have dropped to record lows for the month of January. The 111 new residential listings in January is the lowest number it has been in over thirty years. In addition, only 102 units were on the market last month, the lowest it has been in 15 years.

The low supply has led to record home prices. With the average price of homes around $489,000, a home is now 47 percent more expensive than it was last year.
