Minister Yakabuski took the time to visit a Killaloe sawmill last week.

On Thursday, John Yakabuski, Minister of Natural Resources and Forestry and MPP for Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke was at Ben Hokum & Son Limited to visit the sawmill’s improvements.

This comes after the Province’s 5.5 million dollar investment (over five years) in one of Eastern Ontario’s largest lumber producers. They say the investment will help protect over 100 local jobs and purchase new technologies.

President of the sawmill, Dean Felhaber, says that this is an investment for the people and for all those in rural Ontario who rely on forestry for their livelihood.

The Province says Ontario’s forest industry generates more than 15 billion dollars in revenue and supports 150 000 jobs province-wide.
