Ted Williamson says Moonlight Madness is a great way to kick off the holiday season.

The Chairman of the Barry’s Bay BIA also said that this Friday’s Moonlight Madness event is special as stores will be opened later in order to take part in the festivities. He says that with the Tree of Lights Ceremony, Moonlight Madness and the Santa Claus parade, residents will be able to enjoy a nice weekend that will officially kick off the holiday season.

Williamson encourages residents to shop locally. He says it’s important because the downtown Barry’s Bay district employs around 300 employees and at the end of the day, supporting those jobs are making sure stores stay open. He uses downtown Pembroke as an example when saying that many of their downtown stores have closed because residents shop elsewhere.

The Tree of Lights kicks off at 6:00 PM this Friday night which will be followed by Moonlight Madness where participating stores in downtown Barry’s Bay will be open till 9:00 PM. Saturday shouldn’t be forgotten as the Santa Clause Parade will take place at noon.
