Financial scams are on the rise in the area.

Local OPP detachments say calls are usually coming in early in the morning or late in the evening.

Police say the scammers will pretend to be with a bank or credit card company.

These scammers will tell you your personal information has been compromised, and will ask for confirmation of your credit card or social insurance numbers.

Police say contacting your credit card company directly to verify any claims is the best course of action.
