The municipal budget for the Township of Madawaska Valley has been officially passed by council with a 0.99 per cent increase in the tax levy.
Mayor Kim Love says a full budget presentation will be made once the municipality’s treasurer returns from vacation.
Council has also voted to move Operations to the top of future budget deliberations despite opposition from the mayor.
Councillor Ernie Peplinski made the request based on Operations representing the largest portion of the municipality’s costs come budget time.
Love says budget deliberations were based on what staff was available and when, as not to inconvenience department heads during the three days of talks.
