Prince Edward-Hastings MPP Todd Smith has joined the efforts to oppose elementary school closures in the county.
Smith says there has been a lot of concern about how the closure of an elementary school in Madoc will affect the community.
Smith says people may not want to move to a community without a school.
This comes as the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board is looking into the school’s potential closure as part of its Accommodation Review process.
In light of that, Smith has started a petition to urge the government to help stop any possible school closures in Hastings County.
