Madawaska Valley District High School will be welcoming a distracted driving campaign and a simulator to its classrooms in December.

The announcement came at council yesterday as the MTO grant for the campaign has come through for the partnership between local police, the county school board and the municipality.

MVDHS won’t be the only school in the county to be a part of the campaign but, it will be one of the first to kick it off.

Grade 11 and 12 students will be able to take part in hands-on presentations and be put in the driver’s seat as part of a distracted driving simulator.

Before the presentation however, emergency services in Madawaska Valley will be delivering a presentation of their own.

Councillor Carl Bromwich says local emergency services will be showing a demonstration of a wrecked vehicle and how crews extract drivers and passengers in a live demonstration.

The tentative date for that demonstration is October 28th, with the simulator slated for December 8th.
