This year marks a milestone anniversary for Killaloe’s Irish Gathering.

A full lineup of events to celebrate the Celtic state take place from August 16 to 19.

It’s the 10th year of the festival, which was inspired by the start of an Irish Gathering in actual Ireland about a decade ago. It boosted the pride of Irish descendants located around the world.

Killaloe Hagarty Richards Community Development Co-ordinator Chris Neff believes there will be a larger than normal turnout for this year’s events.

“I think people are always looking to feel that they’re part of something,” he said. “We often see people plan their holidays around this event and make sure they bring their family. It’s an opportunity to take a moment, stop in time, enjoy where you came from, be excited about where you’re going, and celebrate your heritage.”

Events take place at several locations throughout the village, with a large portion happening at Station Park. One of the signature events, the Irish Parade, is at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19 on Queen Street.
