The neighboring town of Bancroft will be rockin’ for the next few days.
The Bancroft Rockhound Gemboree begins at 10 a.m. Thursday. Vendors will be at the North Hastings Community Centre and the Bancroft Curling Club each day through Sunday.
It’s a flagship tourism event for the town as it draws rockhounds from around the world to learn more about gems and minerals.
Linda Bast of Bancroft-area business Lakeside Gems says for many vendors, the event isn’t about sales. It’s an opportunity to talk and learn more about gems and minerals.
“Everyone is always willing to share what we know,” she says. “We’re always learning more. It’s a life-long learning process, even for the experts.”
Lakeside Gems will be one of about 90 exhibitors at the show.
