Boaters can make a wave of difference this weekend.

The Kamaniskeg Lake Property Owners Association Poker Run, sponsored in part by Moose FM, takes place on Saturday, July 29. The event is raising funds for a baby isolette for St. Francis Memorial Hospital.

Boaters will take off from the dock by Lakeshore Park in Barry’s Bay starting at 9 a.m. They’ll make stops at seven locations to pick up a playing card. The object is to come up with the best poker hand.

The event ends mid-afternoon at Hinterland Beach, with a barbecue and awards.

Organizer Bruce Wilmer says the event isn’t just for boaters. People can also get to the stops by bike, too.

“They ride down the west side of the Lake along Siberia Road,” he says. “Again, they hit seven stations where they pick up cards. And they finish, around Hinterland Beach, at somewhat of the same time as the boats.”

Much of the fundraising comes from registration fees. The costs to enter a boat is $200. To enter a bike costs $50, or $75 for a family of bikers.
