Ontario is supporting Madawaska Valley’s efforts to rehabilitate the Opeongo Line.

The province has announced it will provide $371,959 to the municipality to improve the downtown road, in the area from Mintha Street to Arena Road.

The money comes from the Connecting Links program. It will allow for the replacing of crosswalks, re-colouring of lines, and concrete pouring to fix manholes and cracks.

Madawaska Valley was one of 21 municipalities across Ontario to receive funding from the program.

In an announcement earlier this month, the Ontario government said it’s providing $30 million across the province to support municipal road and bridge repairs that will connect people to jobs and spur economic growth.
