SFMH announces new Director of Emergency Department 

The local hospital has a new top doctor in ER. 

St. Francis Memorial Hospital (SFMH) has announced that Dr. Daniel Ostapowicz has been hired as the Director of the Emergency Department. He started in the role on April 1.  

Ostapowicz also has a family practice, which he has run out of the St. Francis Medical Centre Clinic since 2020. He also sits on the Madawaska Valley Family Health Team board. His medical education took him to both Poland and the United States. 

He replaces former Emergency Department Director, Dr. Jason Malinowski, who’s now the hospital’s Chief of Staff. 

Malinowski said he’s excited to welcome Ostapowicz, as he’s “highly regarded by patients and staff.”
