Madawaska Valley residents can “pitch in” to beautify their community this month.

The municipality is participating in the spring clean up program known as Pitch In Canada.

During the month, people can pick up garbage bags from the Township office and pick up trash in public areas.

They can then leave full bags along any township road, and Public Works staff will pick them up.

Public Works Director Hilary Kutchkosie says Madawaska Valley residents have been “wonderful” participants in the program, every year since about 2012. He says each year it  leads to hundreds of bags worth of litter being removed from Township roads and parks.

He says there’s no prize for doing the work, but residents always seem to pitch in to help, simply as a matter of “pride.”

More details on the program are here.
