Who’s among the best of the best in Killaloe?
That question is answered through the Best of Killaloe Awards, run by the Killaloe Lions.
Any person, business or organization located within Killaloe Hagarty Richards is encouraged to cast a vote, up until April 14.
Forms with ballot boxes are at Grandma’s Pantry, Killaloe Hardware, Village IDA Pharmacy and Round Lake Centre Variety.
People can nominate local residents in categories that include, Outstanding Volunteer, Community Elder, Youth, Community Group/Organization, Business of the Year and Best Neighbour. There’s also the Peter Benner Community Spirit Award.
The top three nominees in each category will be announced at the end of April, and the gold, silver and bronze award recipients will be announced and presented at a gala reception on Thursday, May 18 at the Killaloe Lions Hall.
Lynn Flokstra, the co-ordinator of the awards program, said the Best of Killaloe Awards debuted last year and was so well received, that it’s back for another year.
She said the program “shines a light on all the great people and things .. that make Killaloe a great place to live, work and play.”
