Organizers of Spectacle Lake Lodge Cup were pleased with how the snowmobile community embraced the first-time event.
Dozens of racers were at the resort, west of Barry’s Bay on the weekend, for the Ontario Oval Snowmobile Racers-run event. The weekend also featured Ontario Junior Snowmobile Championships races on Sunday.
Spectacle Lake owner Kelly Jackson said snowmobile events like this are important.
“Everybody needs to come and see something like this,” he says. “The other hotel owners are here; they’re full. I don’t know where we’ll put anybody in the future.”
“It’s an event that’s boosting the economy here in Barry’s Bay and Madawaska. We hope to build it bigger and more.”
The Oval Racers have been organizing big snowmobile events in Ontario for six years now, but this was their first event at Spectacle Lake.
