That from Paul Thompson, President of the Madawaska Valley Food Bank.

The food bank is open on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month.

Prior to 2020, it would serve about 45 families. Now, 90 families make regular trips.

Thompson believes rising costs of groceries and inflation has led to the surge.

He’s pleading for donations to keep up and says people can learn how to support the food bank through its Facebook page.

He’s encouraging people to donate either money or food.

He said the food bank received government grant money to help it deal with increased demand during the worst of the pandemic.

Yet, as life gets a little more normal, demand has remained high.
