The stage is set for the election in October in Madawaska Valley.
No new candidates for Mayor have entered the race, meaning that former councillor Mark Willmer will be taking on Roger Prince for the seat. Current Mayor Kim Love will not run for re-election this fall.
Current councillors Carl Bromwich, Ernie Peplinski and David Shulist will look to retain their seats. Seven other candidates will compete with them, including Helen Benn, Mary Blank, Hannah Domagala, Audrey Kaminski, Shelly Maika, Joseph Olsheski and Liz Woosey.
Three candidates are in the running for the Catholic School Board English Language Trustee. Susan Artymko, Mervin Merkowsky and Rose Noonan have all put their name in for consideration.
Madawaska Valley Township staff is also urging people to be respectful of election signs after several were damaged or removed. They remind the public that destroying signs is illegal, and they have notified the OPP of the issue.
The municipal election in Madawaska Valley will be held on Monday, October 24th.
