Renfrew County Paramedics urging snow shovellers to take it easy

You may want to get rid of that snow as quickly as possible, but Renfrew County Paramedics say if you have heart problems, it may not be a good idea.

They are warning anyone with underlying cardiac problems that shovelling your driveway may be dangerous. They say small loads of snow should be shovelled at a time, and ask for help if you need to.

Watch for the warning signs that your shovelling is causing strain. This includes lightheadedness or dizziness, shortness of breath, and tightness in the chest, neck arms or back. If you develop any of these while shovelling, sit down and rest immediately. If they continue for more than a few minutes, call 911 immediately.
