The risk for catching COVID-19 in Renfrew County remains low despite the spread now being described as a Pandemic.

They say the risk to travellers abroad may vary based on destination and you should check travel health notices before you leave the country. In addition, the RCDHU says there is an increased risk for catching COVID-19 in areas like cruise ships, heavily affect areas and large gatherings in closed spaces.  The Health Unit says to self monitor for symptoms for 14 days after travelling abroad.

They also remind people to follow measures that will reduce the risk of illness, such as hand cleaning, mouth covering when you cough or sneeze, avoid touching your eyes, mouth or nose, and staying home if you are ill. No word yet if the Renfew County District School Board or Catholic School Board will be taking any action in light of the pandemic, but both say they are in constant contact with the Health Unit.

Links to up-to-date information on the outbreak can be found on the Provincial and Federal government websites.
