The Madawaska Valley Township has reviewed an audit of its finances on Tuesday.

The auditor outlined a number of suggestions to better manage the township’s finances. Many of those goals are being undertaken by the Township. Mayor Kim Love said that she took the letter as a positive sign moving forward and that staff was moving to achieve those goals.

Acting Treasurer Amanda Hudder responded to the audit. She said the treasury has itemized the suggestions. She said the treasury accepts the letter and welcomes the comments from the auditor. She said it allows the department to start anew with a better understanding of the expectations of those roles. It also allows council to understand where the department was to understand their progression. Hudder said the office is currently going through a time of transition.

The final statements and reports will be released to the public shortly.
