A man is charged with theft hours after he was… charged with theft.
Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Constable Shawn Peever says that last Thursday the OPP responded to a call about a shoplifting incident at a large retail store in Pembroke. The suspect had fled the store on foot after trying to steal a bicycle he says. He was later located at a shopping mall where he had shoplifted a pair of sunglasses. Peever adds that he was then taken into custody and later released on a promise to appear in court.
The next morning that same suspect was arrested when the OPP responded to a call about a theft in progress involving an unlocked vehicle in Pembroke. Peever says he had the stolen sunglasses on him.
As a result, he says 24-year-old, Chayton Geoffrey, of Pembroke faces the following charges.
Two counts of theft under $5000 shoplifting.
Theft under $5000 from a motor vehicle.
Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.
Two counts of Fail to comply with probation.
