Festival of Small Halls Gives Towns a Chance to Showcase Talent They Normally Couldn’t

The Fesitval of Small Halls goes from community-to-community giving each one a chance to see talent they normally wouldn’t be able to.

That’s what Elaine Schweig, Chair of the Combermere Recreation Committee, is saying about the event. It’s coming to Combermere tomorrow night at the Community Centre. It’s run by the same people that run Bluesfest in Ottawa. Schweig says, they provide the entertainment while the town provides the venue. “It gives the opportunity for small towns to showcase their towns and bring talent to small halls that they normally wouldn’t be able to afford,” she says.

Schweig adds that the festival has developed a following because of the quality talent that performs. “I’m very excited about the fact that it’s bringing in excellent talent,” Schweig says. She added that another attractive part of the festival is that it gives a chance to people to learn about the community it’s held in. She says she’s  gotten calls from people not from the area that are coming out for the festival.

“The funds we raise will be used to help get things for the wider community,” Schweig says. “We’re hoping that as a community we can support each other,” she added.

The show kicks off tomorrow night at 7:30 at the Combermere Community Centre. For more information of the Festival of Small Halls, check out their website.
