M.P.P. John Yakabuski says the deficit the Liberals left Ontario with is dishonest scheme.

Yakabuski, the M.P.P. for Renfrew—Nipissing—Pembroke, went on to say, “this is a fraud perpetrated on the people of Ontario and one that was by design.” The Ontario Government released the 2017/2018 Public Accounts and Finding of the Inquiry which found that the Liberals left the province with a $15 billion deficit. The Liberals had promised to balance the budget by 2017/18. He went on to say, “it was clearly a scheme that was perpetrated on the people of Ontario and a fully dishonest scheme saying they have  $6.7 billion deficit when they knew it was over $8 billion dollars more.”

Yakabuski went on to say that every ministry department has been instructed to find efficiencies to try and save money. “A lot of hard work is ahead of us,” he says. Yakabuski added that he’s gone as far as removing land lines from his officers. He says he and his team are only using cell phones. It’s a small measure, he says, but there’s no need to have a land line in our office anymore.
