Paramedics are working alongside police and the health unit to find the source of reported contaminated cannabis in Renfrew County.

Renfrew County Paramedic Cheif Michael Nolan says paramedics were first to arrive to the scene, where some cannabis users had reportedly been having seizures because of the drug. He says patients were treated, while police were called to investigate the marijuana and where it originated from. Nolan says all cases so far have been isolated to the Renfrew, Cobden and Pembroke areas.

Nolan adds that testing of the cannabis will be done by hospitals as well as the Renfrew County and District Health Unit. The health unit reminds residents that recreational marijuana use is still illegal.
