A month after it started, a forest fire north of Barry’s Bay has been put out completely.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says the fire started on July 19th because of a lightning strike north in Algonquin Park. MNRF officials say the fire was 34.2 hectares at its largest. Crews gained control of the fire earlier this month.

The MNRF says this summer there have been 13 forest fires in Algonquin Park, and all of them have now been put out. There is currently one fire still active in the Pembroke district, but the MNRF says it is under control.
