Drought Not Coming To An End Anytime Soon

The dry summer in Madawaska Valley is looking like it’ll stay much the same.

That’s according to Environment Canada Meteorologist Peter Kimbell, who says the area has seen well below the average for rainfall.

Kimbell says a big reason for the drought is because thunderstorms are often much smaller in the sky and don’t always hit when they should.

Other than a 40-percent chance of showers on Thursday, no rain is expected in the area until at least Tuesday.

As a result of the dry temperatures, municipalities across Renfrew County have issued a total burn ban. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry has also issued a Restricted Fire Zone in Renfrew County, which takes priority over a municipality-issued fire ban.
