Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke MPP John Yakabuski is ready to be the Minister of Transportation in Ontario.

Yakabuski was named to the role last month, and says it’s been a busy few weeks since being named Minister.

Yakabuski says his experience in Queen’s Park has really help set him up to take on a bigger role.

However, Yakabuski says one of the tougher parts of taking on new responsibilities will be balancing his time as the local MPP and the Minister of Transportation.

Yakabuski says the MTO has already gotten underway under its new regime, including cancelling rebates for owners of electric cars. He says this is something that everyone was paying for, but it only benefitted a select few.

If you’ve already ordered an electric car, Yakabuski says you have until September 10th to claim your rebate for it.

Having served since 2003, Yakabuski was the longest serving MPP without being in a sitting government before the PC Party was voted into power during the Provincial Election in June.
