Ontarians seems to be buying in on the advantage of winter tires.
The Ottawa Valley has already seen signs of winter weather, with wet roads and cooler temperatures around the region this week.
The Tire and Rubber Association of Canada shows that Ontario tire retailers are gearing up for increased consumer demand for winter tires with a 25 percent increase in winter tire shipments.
Communications Manager of TRAC Carolyn Goard believes the increase is a combination of factors.
The provincial government recently introduced a mandatory insurance discount program for drivers who use winter tires to help improve road safety and to lower insurance premiums for Ontario drivers.
