Local OSPCA Launches Summer Pet Safety Campaign

Our local OSPCA has launched a new education campaign aimed at keeping your pets cool over the summer.

Community Services and Crime Prevention Liaison for our local OSPCA Ann Maika says if it’s hot for you, it’s hot for your pet.

She says police and the OSPCA receive hundreds of calls every summer about pets locked in cars.

Even with the windows down in the summer, a car can heat up with your pet inside it.

She says the increasing number of black legged ticks has also posed an increased threat of Lyme disease and the SPCA is stressing the importance of checking them.

You can learn more about the campaign here.
