The Madawaska Valley Fire Department responded to several calls for service during high winds last Friday, including one which Fire Chief Corwin Quade said caused around $750,000 worth of damage.
The fire on Long Lake Road was caused by a downed power line.
Quade said there were no injuries, but the fire burnt three acres, a cottage, two vehicles, a garage, a shed and did some damage to a nearby house.
The fire department was on-scene from around 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and also responded to six other calls for service after that.
Quade said department resources are taxed after responding to ten calls in less than a week.
He encourages residents to keep following the burn restrictions currently in place, and avoid lighting fires when it’s windy.
