Barry’s Bay BIA receiving $10,000 through OCAF for Bay Days

Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke MPP Billy Denault has announced $10,000 in funding for the Township of Madawaska Valley, to promote the Barry’s Bay BIA Bay Days.

This year, the BIA will be holding a youth leadership night on May 14, as well as a kids’ movie night on May 15.

BIA Vice Chair Pam McNichol said the main event on Saturday, May 16, will feature vendors, a car show and activities for kids.

She said the $10,000 through the Ontario Cultural Attractions Fund will help boost marketing and promotion.

McNichol said the levy the BIA gets from the businesses in their catchment area is just under $9,000, so the $10,000 to promote Bay Days is a big boost for them.

She added this year has been tough to start out economically, so it’s helped out the BIA to not have to ask their members to donate more money voluntarily.

A full list of events for this year’s Bay Days is available on the BIA website.
