Historic caboose relocated to Sharbot Lake

The Central Frontenac Railway Heritage Society confirmed that the 1922 wooden caboose which formerly belonged to Madawaska Valley, has arrived at its new home in Sharbot Lake.

The caboose was transported to the Railway Heritage Park today, after the heritage society purchased it last year.

Heritage society secretary Rhonda Kimberley-Young said they received a Rural Ontario Development Grant to assist with the cost of the move, and got lots of support within their community too.

The society is excited to have the new caboose in the park for the 150th anniversary of the railway’s arrival in Sharbot Lake, and they are marking it with celebrations on May 8.
