Renfrew County District School Board’s most recent EQAO statistics show mixed results.
The most recent testing was done in spring 2025.
For Grade 3 students, 51 per cent met the provincial standard for mathematics, 69 per cent met the standard for reading and 52 per cent met the standard for writing.
The numbers are mostly on-par with the previous two years and don’t show a significant improvement.
For Grade 6 students, 32 per cent met the provincial standard for mathematics, while 80 per cent met the standard for reading and 73 per cent met the standard for writing.
These numbers show improvement in reading and writing compared to the previous year, though not mathematics.
For Grade 9 students, 47 per cent met the provincial standard for mathematics, a nine per cent increase from the previous year.
The Grade 10 literacy test has seen a small decline in achievement year-over-year, with 81 per cent of students passing it this most recent year.
For Grade 3, 6 and 9 students, the numbers fall well short of the percentage of students who met the provincial standard province-wide.
After the EQAO statistics were released last week, the province announced it would be launching a review of its approach to student assessment, noting insufficient progress.
Education Minister Paul Calandra says action is needed to get students back on track.
