Speeches and a march: Take Back the Night Thursday in Killaloe

The Women’s Sexual Assault Centre of Renfrew County is holding a Take Back the Night event on Thursday.

Centre Director Lori Norwood said the event will feature speeches, snacks and a march.

“Take Back the Night is about shattering the silence that surrounds gender-based violence and sexual violence itself. It is meant to be a protest where we use our voices to declare that we’re not okay with gender-based violence in our communities and that we’re taking a stand to end all violence,” she said.

Norwood said everyone is welcome at the event.

“For the march, though, we ask that it is women who are marching at the front and men are welcome to march behind us in solidarity for the movement to end gender-based violence,” she said.

The event starts at Station Park in Killaloe at 7 p.m.
