OPP Upping Marine Enforcement

After a busy month of July, the easternĀ OPP is reminding us they will be out on local lakes and rivers, patrolling for people breaking the law.

Police say they’ve laid a number of charges for people with open alcohol on boats, along with having alcohol improperly stored, throughout July.

Charges were also laid for operating boats without personal flotation devices or life jackets for each person on board, and for people operating boats without a licence.

The OPP reminds us to make sure we have all the proper safety equipment with us on boats, and that it is illegal to carry open alcohol.
