OPP Advocating Public Awareness in Nabbing Impaired Drivers

The Bancroft OPP has laid an impaired driving charge against an Ottawa man after a traffic stop in Faraday Township.

Police say, just after midnight on Sunday, officers stopped an aggressive driver on Highway 28.

Police discovered the driver had been drinking, and charged the 28-year-old man for drinking and driving.

He was released on a promise to appear in Bancroft court in August.

The Bancroft OPP is also reminding drivers not to drink and drive.

Constable Phillip Regamey says everyone should have a plan in place to make sure all their guests are safe if they’re hosting a social gathering which involves alcohol.

If someone suspects a driver is impaired, the OPP asks them to contact police as soon as possible, and provide as much description about the vehicle as you can.

We can also contact the OPP from a cell phone by dialing star-O-P-P. (*OPP)
