In response to environment Canada’s Winter Storm Warning, Renfrew County has declared a significant weather event.

Snow associated with a major winter storm is expected to continue into Wednesday morning. Winds gusting up to 50 kilometres per hour will result in areas of blowing snow giving poor visibility at times.  The amount of snow will depend on how quickly the precipitation changes to ice pellets, freezing rain or rain. Some locations may receive 15 to 30 cm of snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow.

The County urges people to consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.

A notice will follow once the Significant Weather Event declaration has ended.
