Infrastructure funding will give MV flexibility at budget time

A recent cash injection from the province to pay for infrastructure will give Madawaska Valley council some flexibility at budget time.

That from Mayor Mark Willmer, after Ontario announced the Township will receive $269,967 from the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund (OCIF).

Willmer says the municipality receives requests to improve roads from taxpayers commonly, so there’s no shortage of options on where the money can be spent.

He says Madawaska Valley’s treasurer will take that funding announcement into consideration, as she prepares for the budget process, which usually occurs in spring.

Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke MPP John Yakabuski announced the funding earlier this month. He said the OCIF funding comes with flexibility, so municipalities can choose which projects to put the money towards.
