A proposed Splashtown is a little closer to making waves off Lakeshore Park.

Derek Stonier, the owner of the aquatic playground business that wants to expand to Barry’s Bay, spoke to Madawaska Valley council earlier this month.

There was no vote following his delegation, but Mayor Mark Willmer told the owner that staff will work with him on the proposal, which involves adding a $250,000 inflatable playground to water off the beach.

“I’m really excited,” Willmer  says. “I think these are the kind of things we need, both for our residents and to bring people into the Township.”

Willmer adds that, while he’s excited, he’s also cautious. He says there are many issues that need to be worked out, including parking and safety issues.
