Catch the Ace is back and the Barry’s Bay hospital will benefit.

St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation runs the lottery program, which gives out a weekly prize.

The lottery ends when the weekly winner turns over a playing card to find an Ace of Spades, at which point they also win a jackpot.

This marks the seventh time the Foundation has run a Catch the Ace lottery. The six previous have raised a total of about $650,000 for its health care partners.

Proceeds from this one, like the previous three, will be used to buy equipment for St. Francis Memorial Hospital.

The Foundation’s Erin Gienow and Christine Hudder say the lottery has many loyal customers.

“There’s so much excitement in the community,” Hudder says. “People have been waiting, chomping at the bit, waiting for us to launch Catch the Ace.”

Gienow added, “and they understand, it’s going to a great cause; health care, our local hospital.”

Tickets, for $10, can be purchased at several Madawaska Valley stores and, for the first time, they can also be purchased online through the Foundation’s website. The first weekly draw takes place on Nov. 2.
